Publish Date : 03-Jun-2015

The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) has rescheduled the procurement process publication for the North-South Railway Project from its original schedule in May to first week of this month.

DOTC spokesman Michael Arthur Sagcal said, "It should be published within the week."

The DOTC had earlier announced that it was slated to launch the procurement process for the PNR railway expansion later this month.

The undertaking, called the North-South Railway Project, is aimed at reviving PNR's services from Malolos to Tutuban as its North Line and Tutuban to Legazpi City as its South Line by the end of 2020.

In May, the DOTC published an tender for a rail track upgrade project for the Philippine National Railways (PNR) worth P144.38 million ($3.2 million), in bid to renew and upgrade Southeast Asia's oldest railway system.
