Zimbabwe : E-procurement system to be established in Zimbabwe

Publish Date : 07-Oct-2015

Government is moving to establish an e-procuremenr system to plug revenue leak resulting from inefficiencies and corruption related to the current tendering process.

These are part of the reforms for the modernization of the State Procurement Board and for addressing gaps in the institutional and legislative framework.

The e-procurement system is included in the e-Government programme encapsulated in the Results-Based Management (RBM) system Government implemented recently.

Speaking at the second Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) conference on Friday, Deputy Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Ray Ndhlukula said the reforms should bring responsibility and transparency in the procurement process.

Dr Ndhlukula said, "As part of upscaling the implementation of the Results-Based Management system, Government undertook a bold decision to reform and modernise the State Procurement Board in order to address identified gaps in the institutional and legislative framework."

As part of the e-government programme, the modernisation aspect of the SPB will end in the establishment and adoption of an e-procurement system in Zimbabwe.
