Finland : Tieto signs deal for student registry for schools in Vastra Gotaland region

Publish Date : 10-Oct-2015

Tieto has won a joint procurement from Ulricehamn and Tranemo municipalities for a student registry that covers all students from preschool to adult secondary education. The deal is worth SEK 6.7 million and runs through 2021, with the option of a four-year extension.

Ulricehamn and Tranemo have previously had separate student registries and different suppliers for different age groups. This deal will ensure they have the same registry supplier for all childcare and education in the two municipalities. In total, the deal covers more than 6,000 students.

One of the benefits of being two municipalities with joint IT is that it generates lower long-term operating costs and lets us use resources to develop our other operations, says Helen Claesson, head of childcare and education for Ulricehamn Municipality.

The new student registry is part of Tietos innovative and all-inclusive solution for teaching and learning, Procapita/Lifecare. It has a simple and intuitive interface that simplifies student administration and the communication between homes and the school. It also provides effective support for educational processes and for calculations and payment streams within operations.

We are proud of our cooperation with Ulricehamn and Tranemo. More and more municipalities aim for joint solutions that give schools the opportunity to focus more on their core mission. The purpose is to ultimately lower costs, ease the administrative burden and give more time for teaching, says Fredrik Pantze, head of Tieto Education Nordics.
