Jordan,Spain : FOTOWATIO inks 50-MW solar PPA in JORDAN

On 22 November, Spanish developer Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV) signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for a 50-MW solar park in Jordan at a rate of JOD 49 (USD 69/EUR 65) per MWh.
The build-operate-own (BOO) project would attract an investment of about USD 85 million (EUR 80m), revealed Jordans energy ministry.
Construction of the solar farm will be carried out in Mafraq.
Earlier during this year, FRV won the PPA in a 200-MW solar tender launched by Jordan.
As per an announcement made earlier in May, the four companies that made the lowest bids will each build 50-MW parks.
The lowest bid of JOD 43.4 per MWh, was from Greek firm GI Karnomourakis SunRise PV Systems.
By 2020, Jordan aims at strengthening the share of renewables in its power mix to 10%.
