Indonesia : Ministry discusses tender for procurement of high-throughput satellite

Minister of Communication and Informatics Rudiantara has announced that the ministry is at present discussing the tender to procure high-throughput satellite (HTS) which is a major priority to fulflill the need of the government.
The minister said that state agencies would benefit from having their own integrated network using the satellite.
He said, "Basically, the government must have its own [integrated] network. The current problem is that ministries have their own [network]."
But, a decision is yet to be made on whether to self launch the satellite, to lease it or to use any other mechanism.
He added that the satellite will add to Palapa Ring project that has already been launched.
Hence, the minister hoped the project could be completed concurrently with the scheduled completion of Palapa Ring project of 2019.
